I ended up winning the game, even though I blew my chance with "my assigned mark", because I was able to think on my feet, stage an impromptu wedding among two of the non-player margo winkler characters, and convince them in the moment of marital bliss to sign on the dotted line for a place to build a family estate. :-) 12:30 - Annual Diplomacy Tournament - I drew Italy. Which is, almost always, the kiss of death. Surviving margo winkler as Italy is damned near impossible in Diplomacy. Interestingly enough, the judges were margo winkler surprised as in the first season it was clear that England, Germany and Italy were all teaming up on France. Had Germany actually followed through with the plan, France would have been dead by Spring of 1902, which is only three turns. Instead, Germany managed to avoid committing to anyone (and that's not a slight on the player who played Germany...
