Ostensibly, it's so we can learn more herbie ade about people through their taste in music and/or point herbie ade and laugh if they admit to owning crap but the randomness blunts the effectiveness of both. Just because someone owns a lot of good music doesn't mean they aren't really listening to a lame subset of their collection. And if an embarrassing song does come up, it can be easily dismissed as a track that somehow got into your iTunes that you don't listen to. Making people publish their Top 25 Most Played -- now that would hold people accountable. |
