Patient one was a mid-40s mature asian tgp man with HIV/AIDS who'd been admitted for unexplained N/V/D (nausea, vomiting and diarrhea) for the last couple mature asian tgp weeks. He was admitted overnight before my shift started. A very thin man, it was clear the disease was taking its toll. His labs show his viral load in excess of 700,000 and his CD4 is at about 95. He's on multiple cocktails but as you can see, it's not helping much. One good infection and he won't be with us any longer.He was extremely pleasant with me and chatty. There wasn't a lot of psych stuff in his chart since he was just admitted so I sat and asked a few questions to get a better idea of him for my own benefit.
