| Perhaps we'll find a way to wash the hair before hand and keep it wet enough to the salon, or get it to a way so she enjoys or allows it to be washed. Till then we'll have to find another way to take care of her hair. Maybe some pony tails. We still have to work on the washing bit. I did post about this on a womens community of 'alternative' womens parenting (YAAPS), and I got a lot of great womens suggestions for the hair washing, and looked on another on the transracial adoption board (with a lot of parents who have gone through the exact same experiences it seems :). We want her to feel accepted and to grow up with self esteem, but we don't want it to come at the expense of doing something she hates. I can tell you what works for us. I clean out the kitchen sink and counter. Then I have this little inflatable spa pillow that suctions to the edge of the sink( i used a rolled up towel forever). |
