| This opening is a little taste of what is to come, as several different characters bump into each other by accident. Each time two characters cross paths for whatever reason a new story finger emerges while it also affects the next finger story, as if the person was following his or her fate. This complexity will remind the audience of what they learned in high school, as the information finger will reemerge from oblivion. Viewers who have seen films by Robert Altman will definitely recognize the method of the storyline from brilliant films such as Nashville (1975), Player (1992), and Short Cut (1993). Crash also bares certain similarities with the spellbinding Magnolia (1999) and Grand Canyon (1991). Despite these similarities Haggis develops a unique story about a very important issue through digging into the roots of the issue. |
