Those rivers that have subsequently been dammed up to the point where flooding no longer occurs have become choked from terrible erosion of the land - land that has become almost impossible to grow feature film drama anything on. These terrible floods were, you are correct, absolutely inevitable. Anybody with even the most basic understanding of soils and agriculture could figure that one out. It wouldn't have taken supercomputers and weather satelites to determine what was inevitable, though those certainly helped determine when. |
