There had to be, unless they were all dead or something. Or Mom funk metal was an orphan, which she doubted. There was one person she almost remembered, and for a moment she considered asking her mother about the other baby. She knew there had been one; Zephyr had mentioned funk metal it a few times, years ago. But neither of them knew the whole story. Had the baby been aborted before birth? Abandoned at birth? Stillborn, maybe. And who was the father? Maybe Jimmy Lee Homer, the funk metal boyfriend from whom they'd inherited the trailer. Portia had the impression it was going to be a boy, although she couldn't say where she got the idea. It might have been from Zephyr wishing for a little brother, for all she knew. But Marlone never talked about it, and Portia figured that inquiring now would only encourage trouble.
