In my 20s I was able to open up to my mom about the way my OCD works, what triggers compulsions, and portillo so on, and I can discuss spirituality with her. When I was a teenager I told them nothing about my depression and anxiety. And I showed no interest in Christmas one year, probably 7th grade. Could you guys really discuss substance usage/sprituality/politics/unsavoury emotions with your PARENTS as a teen? That seems unthinkable to me. Also, I had no other people to confide in (friends) in junior high-freshman year of high school. My closest friend was my cat, who would jump on my lap and nuzzle my tears away when she sensed I was depressed.
