Besides, there are so many different concepts of moral behaviour, what is moral for one family/ community ,may not hold true for another; we cannot expect one set of moral guidelines to be the salvation of a generation of kids; we have to take responsibility, and educate them. I live on the continent that is worst afflicted by HIV and Aids; fortunatley, I grew up in a home that encourages discussion. My parents taught me about sex, and also encouraged me to educate myself about it. They taught me that sex is not like smoking; it is an emotional connection, and it is the ultimate connection between two people. |

But consider that children do not have a concept of moral conduct yet, because this emotional/ mental ottawa development only occurs during the later teen years. Therefore, a child who is sexually developed is merely acting out something that feels ottawa good, both physically, and because the media portrays couples and sex as desirable. And the fact that kids are developing sexually at a much younger ottawa age than, say, 20 years ago, is one that cannot be ignored. 8 year old kids are experimenting with sex, for various reasons, and many are at huge risk (pregnancy, STD's, HIV, etc.). We cannot just pretend that this is a lack of morals; we must act. The only way forward is to teach children about sexual development, sex, STD's, pregnancy, rape, etc. and encourage them to speak about their experiences, to ask questions, and to discuss thir issues, so that they feel comfortable and empowered; it is only then that we can hope that they make the right decisions. |
