This is a big differential. Salon owners say this is because men generally use a great deal less colouring product and take far less time to cater for body care than women. The more expensive hairstylists body care in the survey such as Bradshaw and Chambers, which charge £60 and £70 respectively for a haircut, will argue that they spend substantially more time on each client and offer extras. For example, Bradshaw's salon offers 15 to 20 minutes shiatsu massage in the case of each hair treatment. In addition, both hairstylists will devote body care one hour per client per haircut. "A barber may spend ten minutes or less to cut a man's hair," according to Robert Chambers. "You're paying for time." David Marshall is the most expensive in the survey charging £85 for a haircut. The sample survey carried out by The Sunday Business Post of hairdressers and barbers across the price range threw up some unusual price differentials.
